Meeting Dartys

It was a little brief but it was great. A little awkward as I was the only one with wife.

Meeting the Dartnell bros (bra in Sherwood slang doesnt sound so gr8 now!) in Mumbai at the Khar Gymkana.

Neville, Sabharwal and I were the 78 ISC group. The trouble with such a long interval is that u have such a lot of catching up to do that u don't know where to start.

(BTW - My wife had a very interesting chat with Philippe Dartnell regarding the Neville Raymond point of view. Most Sherwoodians hide the emotional damage of being in Sherwood. I do hope the pluses of being there somewhat balanced what we lost.)
I will be persona non grata if I persist in this line, but it makes me wonder if Sherwoodians have a higher break-up rate than the average.)

Darty is a boss (No 2), not yet The Boss, at 4 seasons in Riyadh (lousy place to be). Hopefully he will soon be the Boss and at a even higher level hotel of the chain!

I recall the first trip to school by train from Hyderabad. 3 Dartys and my bro and I. Richard and my bro were 69 ISC. That was March 69. Darty told me all about the houses and AD figured high on the list as all our bros were in AD. Though I made it to house cap I don't think think I led my house anywhere. But with the large no of geeks in AD including myself it wasn't very easy to make headway in sports. Happar was our soltary 1st elevener! Maybe history would have been different if Darty had stayed on. It was LJs year with chaps like Puri pushing hard. (His home petname is too wimpy, while his school name too crude- neither name was were truly him).

Neville is here with one foot in Australia and one here. I think his Mom is a major worry. Couldn't chat much with him yesterday.

Darty was much the same as earlier. A smiling face with an undercurrent of seriousness. He's looking forward to meeting Steve next. Philippe was a surprise. Showed a depth u don't see in a Sherwoodian often. (Sherwoodians tend to be hail fellow well met types). Half doz pegs and ha ha! Little cynical of me. We tend to have gr8 conversations in one to one meetings - not group hugs.

Hugs. Triggered the memory of Huggoo Mehra. His huge hands and then DAD! Who remembers one dhaap from DAD. Which triggered as stream of piss down the leg. Or Mr Stones's rubberised torch. I got hit with it once in Horsie dorm 1 in 69. The double cuts with Mr Stone's ringols. If that wasn't abuse what is?

But a trip to Kunja, Kilbury,Mahesh Khan or Golfie stream balances it all out.
